LIFE BUOY 1. Dimension:-  Outer diameter should not be more than 800mm(i.e, <800mm) Inner diameter should be more than 400mm(i.e, <400mm) 2. Material:- Made up of Buoyant and fire retardant material. 3.Weight:- Weight should not be less than 2.5 kg (i.e, >2.5kg). Weight should be >4kg if life and smoke signals and life line but should be <6kg. 4.Grab line:- diameter of rope should be 9.5mm and the length should be 4 times of diameter of lifebuoy. 5.Min weight:- It should carry minimum 14.5 kg of iron in fresh water for 24 hours be 4 times diameter of the lifebuoy and equidistant. 6. KNOTS Types of knots used in ship are Overhand knot, Figure 8 knot, Reef knot, Sheep shank, Bowline, Running bowline, Bowline on the bight. 1.
